INCISIONAL HERNIA

An INCISIONAL HERNIA occurs when intestine protrudea through a weakened area in the abdominal muscles, usually at the site of a previous surgical incision.

SYMPTOMS

• – A visible bulge or lump at the area.
• – Pain or discomfort, especially when bending over, lifting, or coughing.
• – A feeling of heaviness or pressure in the abdomen.
• – In severe cases, symptoms like nausea, vomiting, or inability to pass gas or have a
bowel movement if the hernia becomes incarcerated or strangulated.

CAUSES

– Incisional hernia occurs at the site of a Previous abdominal surgery where the abdominal wall was weakened.

– Increased abdominal pressure from heavy lifting, obesity, pregnancy, or chronic coughing.

– Weakness in the abdominal wall muscles.
