An inguinal hernia occurs when tissue, fat, or part of the intestine pushes through a weak area in the groin region. It often appears as a swelling in the groin and may become more visible while standing, coughing, lifting, or straining. We evaluate inguinal hernias carefully because they may enlarge over time and can sometimes lead to complications if left untreated.

Early symptoms may include a groin bulge, dragging sensation, mild pain, discomfort while walking, heaviness in the groin, or swelling that reduces when lying down.
